CLARIFIES FOR Q3/97
Singer Thailand Plc lost Bt112 m after deducting tax contrasted with
net profit at Bt126 m in Q3/1996, extremely lessening by Bt238 m or 188%,
because:
1. Foreign exchange loss heightened to Bt68.7 m.
2. Thai economic crisis damaged sales to be 24% lower by Bt469.7 m
year-on-year.
3. Soaring expenses including 2.8% hike of interest and other expenses
resulted from lack of liquidity were also responsible for falling result.
